Hey friends :)) I'm preparing to apply for the U's nursing program! I hope to be a Midwife in a few years and be a source of support for pregnant mothers as they welcome their cute babies into the world. I love traveling and have been to 8 countries! I even had the opportunity to live in Paraguay with my bff while completing some online coursework! I am also a TA for the biol dept. I'll be on campus a lot & I'm looking forward to seeing all that you accomplish this semester! If you ever have any question for us peer mentors, feel free to reach out!

Sophomore / Biology Major with emphasis in Neurobiology & Creative Writing Minor
Hello! My name is Elise and I am a fully licensed EMT on the pre-med track. Along with challenging classes, I am involved in the Science Research Initiative (SRI), which helped me get a job as an undergraduate researcher in an Organic Chemistry laboratory on the University of Utah campus. The most challenging part of my freshman year was balancing course load, extracurricular activities, and my social life. As a peer mentor, I am hoping that I can help you avoid the struggles that I encountered during my freshman year. All the peer mentors are here to help you find resources, answer questions, help navigate college life, or just support you as a peer through your college experience. Don’t be afraid to seek out help because we are one email away from getting you to the resources you need!

Recent Graduate / Biology (emphasis on A&P and minor in Chemistry)
Hi! My name is Tara! I am a recent graduate from the University of Utah. During my years at the U, I had the privilege of conducting research and TAing for Ochem and other courses. Being a little introvert(ish), navigating through College was difficult for me in the beginning as it was difficult to access help when I needed it. However, I hope I get to help some of you avoid feeling lost as I did by using this new peer-mentoring program in the Biology department. Using the experiences I have gained by going through the ups and downs of the pre-med track and fulfilling my degree requirements, I hope to improve some of your guys’ journeys and ease the challenges you are facing. All of us Peer Mentors in the biology department are excited to find opportunities to listen to your stories, concerns, or questions and lift some weight off your shoulders! We canconnect you with the right resources so you don’t get lost in the chaos!
