How has your participation in the Bioscience Program had an impact on your career?
It’s outstanding how many lives the work of Dr. Rosemary Gray and those associated with her have positively influenced. It is because of programs like Bioscience Undergraduate Research Program that students like myself have such fond memories of science, college, and friends. I cannot stress how much I appreciate being involved in the program for giving me such a great outlook on science, as well as on life.

What advice would you give current students who aspire to follow a similar career path?
The most important thing is to believe in yourself and work your hardest so that you are always reaching your full potential. Others may dissuade you, but at the end of the day you are the only one who can be held responsible for fulfilling your aspirations.

What accomplishments are you most proud of (professionally and/or personally)?
I am proud that I pushed and continue to push towards my goals despite obstacles. This drive, in addition to having a deep passion for science, has quickly grown into a supportive network of close peers and mentors who have given me a great deal of constructive advice.  This advice continues to mold me into the quality researcher and person I aim to be. Most of all, I am proud of knowing I have not let my family’s sacrifice and struggle in this country go to waste.

What do you enjoy doing with your free time?  Family?  Hobbies?  Interests?
I’ve recently started up a radio show in the Seacoast region by the name of  “Science Observatory”.  We feature a lot of different people (professors, researchers, students, members of the community) and tie everything back to science.  It has been really fun and we have had great reviews thus far. I also enjoy hiking, rock climbing, painting, and socializing.
