Jason Allen
Chief, Department of Sonography
David Grant USAF Medical Center

Jason Allen

Jason received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and now serves as Chief of the Department of Sonography at David Grant USAF Medical Center. He also serves as Medical Director of one of two USAF training programs for sonographers where he enjoys working with and teaching young sonographers and radiology residents. He is looking forward to beginning a combined women’s imaging and body imaging fellowship at UC Davis Medical Center.

How has your participation in the Bioscience Program had an impact on your career?
Participating in Bioscience Undergraduate Research Program helped me develop critical thinking skills which I use daily.  It also provided me with the opportunity to participate in ongoing research at the University of Utah under the direction of some of the greatest minds in the research community.

What advice would you give current students who aspire to follow a similar career path? Study hard. Accept challenges and learn from mistakes (both your own AND the mistakes of others).  Don't give up; you only fail if you stop trying.

What accomplishments are you most proud of (professionally and/or personally)?
I am most proud of successfully completing residency training in radiology and serving as teaching faculty in the radiology residency program at Davis Grant USAF Medical Center.

What do you enjoy doing with your free time?  Family?  Hobbies?  Interests?
In my free time I enjoy camping, fishing, water sports, photography and spending time with my family.
