My son, Joseph Jarman, was in your dental class at the U. I had thought
that he also shadowed you but when I spoke to him, he reminded me it was
another dentist, not you. When I was in your office for an appointment
last month, you asked me to ask him what he thought of your class, now
that he's in dental school.
Joe says the intensity of the course you taught matches the intensity of
the courses taught as OHSU and was a really good overview of what he's
doing now and of how the classes are taught. While he was in your class,
he didn't understand why you required them to know everything, but now
he understands what you were doing. The exposure you gave them to waxing
has been especially helpful.
Your comprehensive final is really similar to his current tests, as are the tests where you have students move from station to station, spending 45 seconds at each station then answering a question before moving to the next.
Joe is really grateful to have had your class and says to tell you thanks very much for being an excellent teacher.

I wanted to thank you again for your involvement in the University of Utah
Pre-Dental program. My first 7 weeks at ASDOH have been much easier because
of you, Prof. Mark Nielson, and Prof. David Temme.
My 2nd week of dental school, I had a Dental Anatomy class taught by Dr.
Paul Krupp from Baylor. At first I was intimidated by him but as it turned
out I had already learned it all in your class, while other students were
nervously preparing for our first dental school exam, I was able to focus
my efforts on other things. Also, during our Dental History self study
class, I was able to reference your test book to answer some of the questions
I had. Two weeks ago, while studying the cranial nerves, I referenced your
book again to clarify questions about the trigeminal nerve. Thank you for
all that you do and I hope all is well.

"Dr. Mirci,
The Pre-Dental Orientation was a big help to me before entering dental
school. This course gave me a taste of what dental school would be like,
from the Tooth ID Tests to the waxing exercises, I am constantly using
knowledge that I learned while taking this class. Pre-Dental Orientation
provided an opportunity to experience what dental school held in store
before I even started. I've even used the manual to study up on tooth anatomy.
Thanks again for the great experiences, I really do use that knowledge
daily.
