Courses To Take

PRE-DENTAL ORIENTATION (BIOL 3080)

This course is designed to help prepare you to excel in dental school. In this class we will spend one lecture on material that will be covered in a semester in dental school. After this class you will have a good understanding for many classes that will be taught in dental school. Starting a class with a good grasp of the overall content, you will have time to study areas in which you don't have background.
Subjects covered include:

Lecture Portion
  • History of dentistry
  • Tooth surfaces and terminology
  • Tooth anatomy (Dental Anatomy)
  • Tooth development
  • Gum tissue
  • Head and neck anatomy
  • Tooth anomalies
Lab Portion
  • You will use waxes and instruments that will be used in dental school.
  • You will make 3 teeth out of wax to the scale of a real tooth.
This course is one of the most comprehensive in the country. The student will feel comfortable entering dental school knowing terminology, procedures, patient interaction, and the type of testing and techniques used by dental schools. The Orientation course will make the dental school experience easier. Students who take this course say they were very well prepared for starting dental school, and are usually in the top portion of their class.
