PUBLICATIONS
Marine invertebrates, such as sponges and tunicates, defend themselves from
predation using toxic chemicals, many of which are potential pharmaceutical
agents. In some cases, bacteria living symbiotically within invertebrate
tissue are the actual producers of these molecules. We are studying the
interaction between bacteria and invertebrates to tease apart biosynthetic
pathways and to better understand the relationships between these organisms.
