Barro Colorado Island (BCI, 9o 09’ N, 79o 51’ W) is a field site in the Republic of Panamá administrated by the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute. The forest is moist lowland forest (Holdridge classification) and receives 2600mm of rain during an 8 month rainy season.
